As Easter approaches, the weather starts to warm and the time for snuggling up in a warm blanket with a wonderful mug of hot cocoa starts to fade. Well I don’t know about you, but I am not ready to pack in the marshmallows, or stuff the blanket into the cupboard for the next six months. I demand one last cozy evening, maybe around a fire, maybe play some Marvin Gaye, who knows?

Might as well go all out right? Now I may not sound like it, but I am something of a hot chocolate connoisseur. Unfortunately for me, I am also a horrible chef. So rather than coming up with my own hot chocolate recipes, I want to show you some of my favorites from around the internet.

With each of these recipes, make sure you get yourself a big enough Americaware mug so you have enough to savor, and put plenty of marshmallows in. Or Peeps! Peeps are amazing!

Bon Appétit Best Hot Chocolate:


3 tbs. cocoa power (preferably Dutch-processed), plus more for serving

3 cups whole milk

6 oz. semisweet chocolate (preferably Scharffen Berger), finely chopped

3 tbs. demerara or granulated sugar

Lightly sweetened whipped cream (for serving)

2 ¼ cups cocoa

1 tbs. table salt
